Introduction

Following the publication of The Provencal Tales Michael was apprached by The Sunday Times (London) with a view to his writing for the travel section. Michael's first lead travel essay, for which he visited the shepherds with whom he had completed the transhumance in the early sixties, was published in January 1989. It was the first of over fifty articles commisioned by The Sunday Times, the last of which appeared in 2002.

Michael's travel articles took him across Canada and Siberia by train, to Samoa to visit the final resting place of Robert Louis Stevenson, and through a glass-topped table in a Jakarta massage parlour which appeared to only employ blind people (see "The Human Touch", 21 May 1995).

This section of michaeldelarrabeiti.com includes an index to all of Michaels travel articles, which can be used to call up the correct back issues of The Sunday Times at a library. The download section includes three articles from the archive which will be rotated on a regular basis.
